A shocking case of financial misconduct has come to light, as a former New South Wales council worker faces serious allegations. The individual, aged 59, is accused of orchestrating a sophisticated fraud scheme spanning over a decade, from 2012 to 2024. By authorizing and approving fake invoices for contractors, the suspect allegedly stole an astonishing $1,295,029.94 from three different councils in the Goulburn, Shoalhaven, and Murrumbidgee regions of southern NSW. This brazen act of deception involved depositing the stolen funds into bank accounts under the suspect's control. The police investigation, which began in May 2024, led to the man's arrest at Parramatta Police Station yesterday.
