Imagine the unexpected delight of spotting Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck strolling through the enchanting Magic Kingdom! This delightful scene is a rarity, as roaming characters are not frequently seen at Disney World. To witness these beloved icons waving cheerfully at guests near the iconic Cinderella Castle is even more extraordinary. Just this morning, we had the pleasure of seeing them greet families as they meandered from behind Cinderella Castle, making their way through Tomorrowland before circling back.
This unusual event likely stems from the adjusted schedule for Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, which has recently transitioned to limited performance times to accommodate the ongoing repainting of Cinderella Castle. While roaming characters aren’t available for formal meet-and-greet sessions, they often take a moment to wave hello or pose for quick selfies with guests as they pass by, creating memorable interactions along their route. Cast Members accompany these characters to ensure that the experience remains smooth and enjoyable, preventing overcrowding while allowing the characters to keep moving.
In addition to Mickey and Donald, other roaming characters like Chip 'n' Dale in their Tomorrowland attire and Stitch can frequently be spotted, especially during the quieter mornings or less crowded days in this vibrant area. Early risers may also catch Alice and the Mad Hatter mingling around the Mad Tea Party attraction, possibly even experiencing a whimsical spin on the ride!
